Springfield, IL – Two gay rights organizations have launched an online way to track couples who take advantage of Illinois' newly signed civil unions law. Lambda Legal and Equality Illinois say the tracker's goal is to protect gay rights. It gathers information including how long couples have been together and whether they have children. Governor Pat Quinn signed the civil unions law earlier this week, which gives homosexual couples official recognition from the state and many of the rights that accompany traditional marriage. The law takes effect June 1. Find the tracker here
