Paducah, KY – Kentucky Transportation Spokesman Keith Todd says salt trucks and plows will work through the night tonight to clear roads. Temperatures will fall to the mid to low twenties tonight. Todd says that will likely cause ice crusting on roadways. He says unlike some other states, including Tennessee, Kentucky isn't having to conserve salt anymore.
"Our salt inventories have rebounded fairly nicely. We're where we can run pretty much flat out, 24 hours a day for about 10 days in a row, so plus we still have deliveries coming in from our special order and from our regular suppliers."
Todd says most road closures have been lifted in western Kentucky. US-51 remains blocked near Carlisle County. Environmental crews are cleaning up a spill from a semi-truck carrying 44-thousand gallons of hydrogen-peroxide. Todd says that work could last late into the evening.
