Paducah, KY – More than a dozen slideoffs along US-62 in western McCracken County and a pair of semi-truck wrecks on US-51 and US-45 this morning illustrate how dangerous winter driving conditions can be on the roads. Kentucky Transportation Spokesman Keith Todd says even though road surface temperatures remain above freezing, it's not stopping some accumulation.
"There is enough volume of snow coming down at one time that it has created some slick spots around the area," Todd says. "We've had crews out spreading salt; particularly on bridges and overpasses. We've been trying to hit exit ramps on Interstate 24."
Todd reminds drivers' visibility will be impaired from heavy snow flurries and they should take it slow out there, allowing for plenty of stopping time.
