Nashville, TN – Tennessee Republicans are calling for the state to join an interstate compact challenging the new federal health care law. Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey, along with Senate sponsor Mae Beavers and several members of the Tennessee Tea Party announced their proposal Monday. It would provide waivers for participating states to create their own health care systems. The legislation would have to be approved by Congress. Last week, Tennessee Republican Governor Bill Haslam joined other governors in asking President Barack Obama to fast-track Supreme Court consideration of challenges to the federal health care law.
