Murray, KY – The Tennessee Attorney General announced today that hiring former Clarksville Mayor Johnny Piper as Superintendent of the Clarksville Department of Electricity is legal and above board in all aspects of the law. This opinion comes after months of allegations that Piper hiring himself was questionable and put no limitations on his power. State Attorney General Robert Cooper, Jr. explained that Piper's hiring could not be regulated by local law because it follows the state Municipal Electric Plant Law.
