Crews Search for Man Involved in Multi-Vehicle Crash

By Angela Hatton

Grand Rivers, KY – Rescue crews are searching for a man they believe might have jumped off the I-24 bridge over the Cumberland River to avoid being hit in a crash. Early today, 64-year-old Roy Hastings Jr. of Wakefield, Ohio, lost control of his van and crashed on the bridge. Witnesses say Hastings exited his vehicle following the accident. A short time after, a semi tractor-trailer tried to cross the bridge. The driver was unable to avoid Hatings's vehicle and collided with it. Two other vehicles also crashed on the bridge. The Kentucky State Police say there is no evidence Hastings was in his vehicle at the time of the crash. Rescue squads from Livingston, Lyon, and Marshall counties are searching the river for signs of the man.
