Frankfort, Ky. – Demonstrators have ended a weekend-long sit-in at Governor Steve Beshear's office. They camped out at the Capitol Friday in protest of Beshear's support for mountaintop removal coal mining in Kentucky. Poet Wendell Berry was among the sit-in participants. This afternoon, they left to join about a thousand others in a mass outdoor rally in Frankfort. The rally has become an annual Valentine's Day rite to show support for legislation that would effectively end the practice of mountaintop removal in Kentucky. That legislation has so far failed to pass.
