I-69 Advocacy Groups

By AP

Henderson, KY – Multiple chambers of commerce in western Kentucky are teaming up with supporters of Interstate 69 in Indiana to hire a lobbying firm with the aim of securing federal dollars for a bridge between Henderson, Ky., and Evansville, Ind. The Kentucky group, the Chamber Leadership Initiatives for Northwestern Kentucky or C-Link, is working with Hoosier Voices for I-69, a statewide advocacy organization pushing for completion of the interstate from Evansville to Indianapolis. The two groups are planning to split the cost of hiring Appian Advisors, an Indianapolis governmental relations firm that specializes in lobbying for transportation improvements. Henderson Chamber of Commerce President Brad Schneider told The Henderson Gleaner that Securing some federal funding for the bridge is vital "to make sure I-69 is more than a cul-de-sac."
