Paducah, Ky. – Today, the National Trust for Historic Preservation named Paducah, Kentucky, one of its 2011 Dozen Distinctive Destinations. Paducah Visitors Bureau Marketing Director Rosemarie Steele cites the historic floodwall murals and restored landmark buildings among the criteria that put the river city on the list.
"The care and concern for these historic structures is very important to the National Trust. We celebrate our history with festivals and with museums, and all of this plays into the criteria."
Among the dozen, Paducah stands with Sonoma, California; Saint Paul, Minnesota; and Colorado Springs. The public is invited to vote online to help determine which of the twelve destinations will be the 2011 Fan Favorite. Voting goes through March 15.
