HB 150 Language Spares

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – Legislation that could've threatened a merger of the city of Paducah and McCracken County died in the Kentucky House yesterday. House Bill 150 included a series of rules that would've forced committees studying government consolidation to disband after two years if they could not agree on a comprehensive plan. The Paducah Sun reports the bill would've also required separately-polled majorities of city and county residents to approve consolidation, as opposed to one combined referendum. The committee studying the possible merger of Paducah and McCracken County meets tonight at the county's road department.
