Murray, KY – A suspended Murray State University professor is resigning from the school following an allegation that he made a racial remark to a black student. Political science professor Mark Wattier is on unpaid suspension stemming from the student's complaint over slave-related remarks attributed to the professor. Wattier is appealing the decision to suspend him. Murray State spokesperson Catherine Sivills says Wattier also has submitted documentation for retirement. Wattier has been a professor at Murray State for over thirty years.
