Cleanup Planned at Civil War Sites

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Volunteers are planning a spring cleanup at 12 Civil War sites across Kentucky. The annual Park Day event is set for Saturday, April 2. It's part of the Civil War Trust's nationwide effort that includes more than 100 historic sites in 22 states. Activities include raking leaves, hauling trash, painting signs and planting trees. In exchange for their work, volunteers will receive T-shirts and have a chance to hear a local historian talk about the site's significance. Kentucky sites include Columbus Belmont State Park, the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site at Hodgenville, the Hunt-Morgan House in Lexington and the Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site.
