Calvert City, KY – High winds knocked over a Calvert City Super 8 Motel sign across US-62 yesterday, knocking out electricity to most of the town. Assistant Fire Chief Ben Capps tells the Paducah Sun when the sign fell, it tore through several main feeder power lines sparking a small fire. Most West Kentucky Rural Electric customers were without power for about an hour. Winds were recorded blowing as high as 35 miles per hour at Paducah's Barkley Regional Airport around the time the sign fell. No injuries were reported.
