Kentucky – The Kentucky House is urging a halt to state employee furloughs. Governor Steve Beshear furloughed 36-thousand state workers for six days this fiscal year to help balance the budget. There have been three furlough days so far. House members voted 89-0 yesterday (Wednesday) to approve a symbolic resolution urging Beshear to forgo any more furloughs. Beshear says reducing the days will be one of his first options if tax receipts are strong enough to ensure a balanced budget.
