Frankfort, KY – House Speaker Greg Stumbo is promising a fair hearing for legislation that would radically reshape the state Public Service Commission. The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers don't like the bill. But neither does citizen's advocate Tom Fitzgerald of the Kentucky Resources Council.
"I think that a review and a reconstitution of the Public Disservice Commission' needs to be done by the entire General Assembly, and I'd like us to see come forward a positive piece of legislation, so that we could affectionately call that body the Public Service Commission again."
Legislation approved by the Senate last week would make the PSC an elected regulatory board with seven members. Right now, the board has three members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate. House consideration of the Senate bill is pending.
