Emergency Management Tips Before Storm

By Chad Lampe/ Angela Hatton

Murray, KY – Severe weather moving through region tonight might spur tornadoes in northwestern Tennessee and bordering Kentucky counties. The storm will bring with it hail and high winds with gusts as high as 60 miles an hour. Trigg County Emergency Management Director Randy Wade says he has contacted the American Red cross to prepare shelters if the storms cause power outages or damage homes.

Wade also says with significant rainfall flash flooding is a concern. "If you are driving and you see water running across the road," Wade said. "Don't try to drive across it, because people could run right off into a big gulley that has been washed out right in the middle of the highway."

A flash flood watch remains in effect for WKMS counties in Kentucky along with a flash flood warning for northwestern Tennessee counties in our listening area. Wade adds this storm threat provides a reminder to check batteries in flashlights and radios ahead of a typically turbulent storm season.
