Murray, KY – High winds last night, some clocked gusting as high as 77 miles per hour, caused sporadic damage throughout the region. Large hail and tornado sightings were reported, including one sighted near Martin, Tennessee and another in southern Muhlenberg County. In Hopkinsville, where wind speed reports were the highest, at least 12 power line poles snapped downing electrical lines and leaving some 500 customers without power. Wind gusts knocked over trees, blew carports down and caused minor structural damage. One tree fell onto a Reidland house in McCracken County. A grain bin was destroyed near Hickman. A Purchase Parkway large overhead highway sign was blown down onto the roadway near Mayfield. Just about every county in the WKMS-listening region had reports of water over roadways. Besides three flood-related fatalities in Graves County, no other injuries have been reported.
