Hopkinsville, KY – Water has receded from most roads in the region, following heavy rain and storms last night. Water remains high on some roads in Trigg County, and officials urge drivers not cross large pools. Pennyrile Rural Electric Spokesman Brent Gilkey says over 500 households in western Christian County remain without power. Gilkey says winds tore down at least 13 power line poles, and workers are out restoring connections. Electricity should be restored to customers later this afternoon. Jackson Purchase Electric reports around fifteen hundred outages across six counties due to wind. Spokesperson Izell White says all JPEC customers are back online. Damage in other counties included structures blown into roadways and property destruction. Some counties, including Hopkins, and Weakley in Tennessee, escaped the storm with little effect. Officials there say wind blew down some tree branches, but they report no road blocks or injuries.
