Two homes destroyed, 32 more damaged in Henry County

By Jacque Day

Henry County, Tenn. – Last night's violent storms damaged 34 homes and a church in the Kentucky Lake area of Henry County. Two mobile homes were completely destroyed. A resident inside one of the destroyed homes escaped without injuries. The other was unoccupied. Emergency Management Agency director Ron Watkins attributes the majority of structural damage to falling trees. The National Weather Service determined damages were caused not by tornadoes but by straight-line winds, some that reached 75 miles per hour. No injuries were reported. Watkins says the storm system knocked out electricity in about 300 homes. As of late afternoon, about 80 percent of those homes had power restored. He says the affected area represents a mix of about 50 percent full-time residents and 50 percent seasonal.
