Fulton, KY – Fulton County and Fulton city Independent School District meet tonight to talk about shared services and the possibility of consolidation. City Schools Assistant Superintendent Wendell Benningfield says the two school boards hold a joint meeting tonight at seven. Benningfield says the county and city already share services, including their gifted and talented program, technology staff, and transportation. He says the talks about consolidation are not related to budget or test scores because both districts are doing well. Board members plan to discuss the possibility as part of overall system efficiency. Two similar mergers have happened in the last few years, the most recent in 2008 in Webster County.
