Fulton, KY – Fulton County and Fulton city school officials met yesterday in a joint board meeting discussing a possible merger and consolidation of their districts. The Paducah Sun reports the meeting was positive, but tentative, as both school boards made it clear the meeting's intension was only to explore combining the two systems and not to move forward on the proposal. One of the benefits of merging could be an increase in inter-district shared services like distance learning, band and fine arts programs, as well as sharing current and future grants. Board members also discussed the possibility of eliminating some administrative positions.
