Springfield, IL – Legislation setting new guidelines for handling concussions among Illinois' student-athletes has been approved by House members. The bill would bar high school students from returning to games after a possible concussion until a doctor gives written permission. School districts also would have to educate teachers, students and parents on concussion symptoms and parents and students would need to sign a waiver acknowledging the risks. The bill passed with unanimous consent Tuesday and now heads to the Senate.
