Hopkinsville, KY – A long-awaited extension linking the Pennyrile Parkway to I-24 opened yesterday in Hopkinsville.
One of the first vehicles to traverse the new six-mile-long parkway extension zooms by. The extension is expected to relieve semi-truck traffic congestion on US-41A. Kentucky Transportation officials opened the new route at a ceremony yesterday afternoon. The extension is the product of a 5-year, $100 million-plus highway construction project. Traffic will be able to access I-24 from a new interchange at the 81 mile marker on the Pennyrile Parkway.
