Silberman to be next Prichard Committee Director

By Lampe/KPR

Murray, KY – The outgoing superintendent of Lexington schools will be the new executive director for the Prichard Committee. Stu Silberman, who has 37 years of experience in education, didn't anticipate another career.

"I had no idea when I announced my retirement that this was the direction I would go in I knew I wanted to continue to work to make a difference but I never imagined it would be this quickly."

Silberman admits he became emotional while addressing the board Wednesday about the job held for years by Bob Sexton. Sexton, who passed away last summer, was a leading education reformer and a founding member of the Prichard Committee. Silberman officially retires from Lexington's school system on August 31st and starts work with the Prichard committee the next day.
