Hopkinsville, KY – A man police say was the last to see a Hopkinsville woman alive pleaded not guilty to a murder charge yesterday. 44-year-old Tremel Jerome Smith will have a preliminary hearing in Christian County next week. Police allege Smith killed 50-year-old Susan James, whose body was found Tuesday near Pennyrile Parkway. Hopkinsville Police Information Officer Paul Ray says, "Detectives believe that the one arrest we made is the one person that was involved. We do not feel anyone else was involved. We do not have any arrests pending at this time."
Ray tells WKDZ-FM detectives remain unsure exactly what James' relationship with Smith was.
