Grand Rivers, KY – Grand Rivers is mourning the loss of an elderly married couple considered pillars in their community. 90-year-old Julia Badgett Badger and 91-year-old Charles "Chett" Badger died at their home Wednesday of natural causes. Patti's 1880's Settlement owner Chip Tullar describes the couple to the Paducah Sun as the matriarch and patriarch of the town. The Badgers may be best known in Grand Rivers for their philanthropy: donating $400,000 to the community theater and are credited with helping to foster and grow the local economy over the past several decades.
