More Rain for Already Saturated Region

By Angela Hatton

Metropolis, IL – A flash flood watch is in effect starting tonight at 6 and continuing to nine tomorrow morning. Forecasters expect mostly rain, with some isolated thunderstorms. McCracken County Emergency Management Meteorologist Beau Dodson says Southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and west Tennessee will see similar rainfall amounts.

"We're thinking it's widespread, one to two inches of rain. If there's going to be pockets of three inches or more, it would be where thunderstorms train."

Training refers to repeated rainfall in the same area over a short period. Dodson says flash flooding is the major concern, as some areas are already saturated from recent rainfall. Dodson predicts more rain Tuesday and Wednesday.
