Nashville, TN – Former Tennessee House Speaker Kent Williams has predicted that a bill to end collective bargaining for teachers will die in the state House. Williams, speaking at a press conference last week, questioned the motive behind the bill and said enough Republicans will oppose the measure to stop it from passing. The Tennessean reported that Williams, a state representative cast out of the GOP two years ago, was pulled from a crowd of onlookers and asked for comment. Williams said there are too many other big issues to tackle to spend time on "politically motivated legislation."
