Long-Time Caldwell Magistrate Resigns

By Kala Dunn

Princeton, KY – Five-term Caldwell County Magistrate and City-County Park Director George Kilgore has resigned from both posts. The Princeton Time's Leader reports Kilgore's resignation ends an investigation by the Commonwealth Attorney's office. Commonwealth Attorney G.L Ovey says the allegations made against Kilgore concerned improper conduct in his role as park director.

The issues concern three or four park employees and their families as victims. The case is now closed following Kilgore's resignation, and he is presumed innocent. Caldwell County's Democratic Executive Committee will compile a list of nominees to temporarily fill the Magistrate position. Governor Steve Beshear will then decide who will serve until a special election is held in November.
