Paducah, KY – Further allegations of mismanagement have renewed scrutiny of McCracken County Clerk Jeff Jerrell's administration. Longtime deputy clerks Dionna Wurth and Leslie Hannan sent a letter to county and state officials at the end of January alleging a series of unorthodox practices, including using IOU slips, allowing certain businesses to hold a tab and even on rare instances, cash personal checks. Jerrell denies to the Paducah Sun any unethical, illegal or unorthodox practices and claims the allegations amount to politically-motivated harassment. Kentucky State Police have opened an investigation at the request of McCracken Commonwealth Attorney Dan Boaz. The state Attorney General's office and State Auditor Crit Luallen's office are conferring on whether to pursue the matter.
