Transparency Bill Passes Without Opposition

By Angela Hatton /Associated Press

Frankfort. KY – The Kentucky General Assembly gave final approval today to legislation that would require all government agencies to post financial information on the Internet. The Senate voted 33-0 to pass the bill, which essentially codifies existing practices into law. The Senate vote came just minutes after the House voted 95-0 to pass the measure. Bill Sponsor Senator Damon Thayer says the measure simply ensures that all three branches of government continue doing what they are already doing. Governor Steve Beshear's administration began putting financial info online more than two years ago. Both the legislative and judicial branches have followed since then.
