Clarksville, Tenn. – State audit details released Wednesday show a former Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency employee stole at least $208,803 from agency accounts. According to a letter from the state comptroller's office, the unnamed employee made more than 100 cash withdrawals and charged personal expenses on an agency credit card. The transactions occurred between May 2007 and July 2010. The accused individual controlled the agency's accounting records, and the problem came to light only after another employee tried to reconcile the accounts. The comptroller hasn't yet turned the case over to authorities because the employee has since died.
