Henry Budget Talks Turn Tense'

By Chris Taylor

Henry, TN – The possibility of a budgetary shortfall as this fiscal year winds down sparked a tense' discussion between Henry, Tennessee city officials earlier this week. Alderman Faye Lowery expressed concern some $47,000 had been spent and expected monies had so far not been returned to the city's coffers. Mayor Joe Qualls explained Police Chief Mark Herndon has assured him drug fund money and proceeds from sales of surplus material will soon be paid. The Paris Post Intelligencer reports Lowery proposed a spending freeze on nonessential purchases, but the aldermen chose not to vote because Herndon and other city employees promised to do their best to cut back on spending.
