Livingston County Flooding

By Jacque Day

Smithland, Ky. – Twelve northern Livingston County residences are completely road-blocked by floodwaters with only boat access, and floodwaters have reached two homes in Ledbetter. Deputy emergency management director David Koon says every city in the county, bordered by the region's three rivers, is affected by rising waters. River levels are at about 44 feet, and according to National Weather Service data, they could rise to 46 feet by the weekend. Paducah and Cairo will also continue in the flood warning stage at least through the middle of next week, and perhaps longer. Levels at Paducah are expected to hold steadiest at about 45 feet. Cairo levels could reach 52 feet by Sunday.
