Morehead, KY – The fourth-seeded Cards will take on number 13 seed Morehead State Thursday in Denver. University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino says his team is grateful to be playing in this weeks' NCAA tournament and not concerned about where they're placed in the pairings. Pitino says no one is more surprised the he is about the strides his team has made this season.
"We're number eleven in the country, which none of you would have predicted, and I'm at the head of the class. We were 12 and 6 in the toughest conference, which none of you would have predicted, I'm at the head of the class. We battled as many injuries, had not one returning starter, which none of you would have predicted. I'm at the head of the class. So we're super psyched."
This will be the second meeting of the Cards and Eagles in the NCAA tournament in three years. U of L won the first matchup by 20 points in 2009. Kentucky opens play Thursday in Tampa against Princeton.
