Paducah, KY – High water levels on the Ohio River will remain for the rest of the week. That's the prediction from the National Weather Service. Meteorologist Robin Smith says the water is above flood stage along most Ohio River counties. Smith says the water won't begin receding for several days. Paducah and Cairo are at moderate flood levels, while the area around US Dam 53 in Ballard County has major flooding. Smith explains.
"Say for instance, moderate flooding, the river might expand outward and take up a certain section of land and property, and evacuations and stuff. If it goes into major, basically what that is is that the river is getting even wider."
County officials have not reported any residences in danger of flood damage. Livingston County Deputy Emergency Management Director David Koon says he evacuated a campground near Tiline due to rising water. Koon says no homes are close to the water.
