River Flooding Continues

By Chris Taylor

Smithland, KY – The National Weather Service is forecasting about an inch of rain as a system moves over the region this morning. Rising water levels along the Cumberland and Ohio Rivers are keeping Livingston County Emergency Managers busy operating levee pumps in Smithland and Ledbetter. Rivers are forecast to rise in some places to nearly a foot. The Paducah Sun reports floodwaters have also cut off the entranceway to the Smithland Lock hydroelectric dam construction site, preventing crews from working.
