Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Attorney General's office has denied a request for an opinion on whether lawmakers who received campaign donations from optometrists should have voted for a bill allowing them to perform a variety of simple surgical procedures. Republican gubernatorial candidate Bobbie Holsclaw had asked for the opinion. She says the office denied her request citing she didn't have proper standing to ask for the opinion. Holsclaw had raised concerns that campaign contributions might have influenced lawmakers to pass the bill, which has already been signed into law by Democratic Governor Steve Beshear.
