Madisonville, KY – A western Kentucky program designed to enhance oral health for pregnant women has won a national award. Trover Health System's Center for Women's Health in Madisonville is the recipient of the William J. Gies Award given by the American Dental Education Association. The center was honored Monday during an awards presentation in San Diego, California. Trover President and CEO Bert Whitaker says the center's prenatal program Centering Pregnancy Smiles resulted significantly reducing preterm and low birth-weight births, improving infants' health and saving some $2 million in direct health costs.
