Frankfort, KY – House Democrats remain solid behind the Medicaid solution offered by Governor Steve Beshear. But, it's not to say there aren't some questions about when savings could be seen under a managed care approach to Medicaid. House Speaker Greg Stumbo says an outside look at the issue might be worthwhile
"We are looking for some an expert witness so to speak that might come in to give us impartial overview of whether or not what the governor proposes is sound and reasonable."
Democrats say the governor's approach to securing savings over time will work but Senate Republicans are doubtful. Republican Senator Tom Buford believes the governor and his administration realizes it could be several years before managed care would show significant savings.
