Paducah, KY – Water levels along Paducah's stretch of the swollen Ohio River have crested overnight and are beginning to recede. National Weather Service forecasters expect river levels at Brookport and Metropolis, Illinois to begin receding sometime Saturday. Barring excessive rainfall or any changes in dam release schedules, river levels will continue to recede. The Paducah Sun reports workers continue to construct floodgates in Massac County and Harrah's Casino and Hotel in Metropolis remains closed. Officials remind drivers to not attempt crossing water-covered roadways as low-lying roads throughout the river region remain affected.
