Murray, KY – Kentucky Representative Melvin Henley of Murray says Medicaid cuts would reduce Murray-Calloway County Hospital's income by some $325,000 by the end of the fiscal year. He also claims many doctors would stop accepting Medicaid patients, prompting a flux of low-income patients to instead use the hospital's emergency room. Henley says this will potentially increase the hospital's expenses by up to one million dollars. The Democrat says the House remains open to solutions for cutting the budget, but warns the "line in the sand" lies at education.
