Nashville, TN – A proposal to restrict the collective bargaining rights of Tennessee teachers is advancing in the House. The measure passed the House Education Committee 12-6 today and now goes to the House Finance Committee. The proposal is different from the companion legislation in the Senate, which seeks to eliminate collective bargaining altogether. That version is waiting to be scheduled for a vote on the Senate floor. The House version would exclude only certain areas, such as merit pay and evaluation standards.
