Tater Day - Tourism for Benton

By Rose Krzton-Presson

Murray, KY – Today concludes the annual Tater Day festivities of Marshall County, KY. The springtime festival draws big crowds year after year to see the antique tractors, the time-period costumes, or even the one single sweet potato stand. Tater Day Coordinator Patricia McWane says that the unique four-day event is an essential part of the county's tourism industry.

"We'll usually have 10 to 15 to 20 to 25-thousand people according to what the weather is. It is a major happening that has happened, as I said, for 168 years. So it brings a lot of people to our community and hopefully puts some money into our community, as well."

Tater Day wraps up Monday in downtown Benton.
