Clarksville, TN – A replica Civil War-era cannon cast in 2009 by the Clarksville Foundry has found a new home at Fort Defiance. For the last year, the cannon waited on a corner of the Montgomery County Courthouse lawn until workers moved it to the park Monday. The howitzer, the first ordnance made in the city since the Civil War, will be fired every two hours during Saturday's and Sunday's opening festivities for the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center.
