Frankfort, KY – If they get enough signatures, a couple of non-major party candidates will appear on Kentucky's November 8th general election ballot. Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeigh has the names.

Last Friday was the statement-of-candidacy filing deadline in Kentucky, and Gatewood Galbraith of Lexington and Kenneth Moellman of Foster plan to be on the November ballot.

Galbraith is running as an independent for governor and Moellman is running as a Libertarian for state treasurer.

But first, each has until August 9th to collect the signatures of five thousand registered voters. The two don't become official candidates until their petitions are accepted and they pay their $500 filing fees.

Both races already have major party candidates, with three Republicans vying to take on Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear, and a Republican waiting to challenge State Treasurer Todd Hollenbach if he defeats his Democratic opponent in the May 17th primary election.
