Other States' Gun Permits Legitimate in IL

By AP

Springfield, IL – The Illinois Supreme Court ruled today that people permitted to carry guns in other states may bring them into Illinois without a license. The court ruled unanimously today in favor of an Indiana man who was arrested in May of 2005 for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Leonard Holmes was transporting an uncased gun into Illinois without a Firearm Owners ID Card, even though he held an Indiana permit. The court held that Illinois law does not require an F.O.I.D. card, too. It also ruled the car's armrest served as a case for the weapon.
