CEO of Big Rivers Testifies in Congress

By David Schmoll / Jacque Day

Washington, D. C. – The president and CEO of Henderson-based Big Rivers Electric Corporation testified Thursday before the Subcommittee on Energy and Power. U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield chairs the sub-committee and says he asked Mark Bailey to testify at this hearing to hear directly from a local energy provider. Bailey has asked the committee to consider delaying the proposed EPA regulations saying any increase of regulations will negatively affect the companies in the short-term causing a weakening in competitiveness within the United States. The hearing relates to a draft of the Transparency in Regulatory Analysis of Impacts on the Nation Act of 2011, calling for an interagency committee to analyze The EPA policies' affect on energy companies.
