Mayfield, KY – A Mayfield High School student's mother is suing the school district in connection to her daughter's alleged rape. The Mayfield Messenger reports Melanie Colbroth claims negligence on the part of Mayfield High School faculty and staff led to an August 2010 sexual assault on her mentally challenged daughter by an unnamed male student. Mayfield police officers continue to investigate the alleged rape. They are currently awaiting pending results from the state crime lab.
