Paris, TN – A Henry County Circuit Court jury has ruled in favor of a local doctor accused of negligence. The jury found Mary Austin innocent in the death of Darlis Gilbert in 2008. Austin treated Gilbert at the ER in Henry County for abdominal pain. Gilbert was released, but had to be rushed back four hours later, and died from a heart attack. The Paris Post Intelligencer reports Gilbert's daughter sued Dr. Austin for $10 million dollars, contending she should have run more thorough tests. Austin has worked at Henry County Medical Center for 12 years.
